We are Gogarty!

Family History – The Gogarty’s and Extended Families.

Our mission is to record as much we can of the history, capture as many of the photographs that exist, stored away in boxes and digital saved files, and document the stories passed down by previous members of our Gogarty family, (and extended families), for the benefit of future generations. That includes anyone who’s family name was linked to the Gogarty family by birth or marriage, in law or common law,or illegitimate.

In our world today the family experience, of “living local in the village” , has not existed for most or been lost for many. Our children and future generation children of our families should still be able to read about their roots and also to be able to make contact with the rest of the family and extended family still living, and have a path to make and stay in contact if they so desire.

Let us start by introducing Joseph Gogarty, the oldest ancestor for which we have a picture, born in Wigan in 1865. His father Mathew Gogarty was born in Co Kildare, Ireland,1840, unfortunately we do not have any photographs of him.

We invite any Gogarty family members, descendants of Joseph Gogarty, and Extended family members, to submit their stories and photographs, of bothstill living and dead family members up to the site for all to read and see. We are also looking for some family members and extended family members who are interested to volunteer to contribute and support us. If you have some time and are interested contact us.
